Q2. How reliable is the rank obtained based on the answer key released by a coaching institute?

Ans. Candidates should not consider the ranks/scores obtained from coaching institute answer keys as final. These are only for reference and to get an approximate idea of the score. The fee for each challenged question is Rs.200/-.

Q3. Would additional marks be provided for disputed questions in NEET, after the official answer key is released?

Ans. After the official release of the answer keys, if there are any discrepancies or objections made by candidates, they can challenge the question.

If the challenge is found to be correct, the answer key will be revised, and the revised set of answer keys will be used to prepare the results. However, candidates will not be informed about the acceptance or rejection of their challenge. They will have to check the official website for any updates.

NEET 2024 FAQs – Result

Q1. What exactly is a percentile rank?

Ans. Percentile rank represents the percentage of candidates who have scored less than or equal to you in the NEET exam. For instance, if a candidate belongs to the general category, and the minimum qualifying percentile is 50, it means the candidate should score higher than at least 50% of the total candidates appearing for the exam in the general category.

To calculate percentile rank, there are two formulas:

Formula based on score:

Percentile Rank = (Your score / Topper’s score) x 100

Formula based on rank:

Percentile Rank = (Total number of candidates – Your rank / Total number of candidates) x 100

Q2. Are the NEET 2024 result and state merit list released by NTA at the same time?

Ans. The NEET results and state merit list are not released together. Only the NEET results are announced on the day of the result declaration. Candidates who qualify under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) are eligible to participate in the counseling process. The state counseling authorities use NEET scores to prepare the state merit list for candidates seeking admission under the 85% state quota. Based on the merit rank in the state rank list, candidates will be granted admission to medical institutions.

Q3. What should I do if my NEET 2024 result does not get me into a good medical college? I’m not willing to lose another year.

Ans. If you do not get admission to a good medical college based on your NEET 2024 result, you can wait for the state merit list to be released. However, you will need to apply for 85% state quota seats only if you are a domicile of that state. To avoid such a situation, it is recommended that candidates aim for higher scores, above 580-600, and consider dropping a year to prepare better. This can serve as a motivation for students to perform well in exams and achieve better results.

Q4. What is the difference between the NEET scorecard and the NEET rank letter?

Ans. The NEET scorecard contains various details about the candidate and is scheduled to be announced soon after the NEET results. The details included in the scorecard are:

  • Candidate’s name
  • Category
  • NEET cut-off
  • Percentile score
  • All India Rank (AIR)
  • Category rank

The NEET rank letter can only be downloaded by candidates who have qualified for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) merit list.

Q5. How will the NEET cut-off date of 2024 be determined?

Ans. After the results are declared, the NEET cut-off will be revealed. The cut-off score will be determined based on several factors such as the number of candidates appearing for the examination, the level of difficulty of the exam, the availability of seats in each category, and institutes.

Q6. What is the expected cut-off for NEET 2024?

Ans. The NEET cut-off is determined based on the aforementioned factors, which can only be decided after the exam has taken place.
