• Raw Marks:- Actual marks obtained in the exam (out of 300).

Example to Understand the Concept

Suppose the maximum mark for the examination is 300, and nine candidates have scored 250 out of 300. Here, 250 marks represent the raw marks.

Now, assuming a total of a hundred candidates appeared in the JEE Main, then the percentile and NTA score will be calculated as follows:

• The raw score obtained by candidates = 250
• The number of candidates who obtained the same raw score = 9
• Total number of candidates appearing for the exam = 100
• Then the NTA score or JEE Main percentile will be = 100 – 9, which is 91
