Fee Waivers & Concessions
IIT Delhi has one of the most liberal waiver policies in the country. What it looks like in practice is this:
- SC/ST/PwD students: Tuition fees are waived for 100% of programs at the UG and PG levels, irrespective of family income.
- General/OBC students whose family income is less than ₹1 lakh/year: Waiver of full tuition fee at the UG level.
- Family income: ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh/year (UG level): 2/3rd of the tuition is waived.
- Hostel and mess charges: These are charged separately between ₹36,000 to ₹51,000 per semester, depending on the accommodation provided.

The IIT Delhi Admission Process 2026 follows three distinct and clear steps – National Exam, Portal Registration, and Campus Reporting. Let’s explain each of the steps.
Stage 1: Clear the National Entrance Exam
All the IIT Delhi courses begin with a National Entrance Test, and that’s a given fact. The first stage of B.Tech is to pass JEE Main, and the top 2.5 lakh rank holders are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. You then appear for JEE Advanced, and the All-India Rank (AIR) you obtain from the exam is the deciding factor for your admission to IIT Delhi.
The first step for M.Tech is a GATE score. For MBA – CAT, For M.Sc.- IIT JAM. After your results are posted, review your score to ensure you are meeting the minimum qualifying score in your category.
Stage 2: Register on the Relevant Portal
This step works differently depending on the program you’re applying to.
- Centralised route (B.Tech, M.Sc., M.Tech): Visit the JoSAA website (idioms website) for B.Tech and the COAP/JAM website for PG. Fill the preferences window with IIT Delhi and your choice of branch at the top. The ranking of your preferences is important; the top preferences receive preference in the allocation process.

Phase 1 of the IIT Delhi placement 2026 data has been officially released by the Office of Career Services (OCS). The recruitment campaign concluded at the end of 2025, with the figures revealing a definite improvement on most indicators. The total gross rose to over 1,275, which represents a 6.3% increase over 1,200 the previous year. Interestingly, Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) increased by 33%, which goes to show the enthusiasm of companies for the students they met during internships.
The international offers continued to lag this cycle with a figure of 35, which is just a bit slower than last year. That is not an exclusive concern of IIT Delhi, but is a general trend of tech markets across the world.

This year, the Core Technical and Engineering sector had the largest share of placed students, with 36.6% placed in the sector. Some of the largest volume employers included companies such as Texas Instruments and Qualcomm. Interesting reversal from the last few years with an IT/software focus.
Finance was a smaller proportion at 10.2% but was responsible for the highest number of domestic packages on campus. Quant trading firms like Graviton Research Capital and Squarepoint Capital had packages that often rivalled their international tech counterparts, ranging in size from ₹1–2 crore.
