The International Olympiad of English Language (iOEL) is a school-level English exam conducted by the SilverZone Foundation for students of Classes 1 to 12. The iOEL Olympiad checks how well a student understands grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. It is not a school test with rank pressure. It simply shows a student where they stand against learners across India and abroad. Any student from Class 1 to Class 12 can appear for Level 1 through their school, so eligibility is very simple at the start. The iOEL 2026-27 Olympiad is held in three levels, and the iOEL Olympiad 2026 Exam Dates for Level 1 are 21 October, 26 November and 10 December 2026. Students who do well earn medals, certificates and cash prizes.
In this blog, we have covered the iOEL Syllabus 2026, iOEL Exam Pattern 2026, iOEL Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria, iOEL 2026 registration, fees, sample papers, iOEL 2026 Admit Card, iOEL Results and iOEL 2026 Awards & Recognitions, all checked against the official website.

iOEL Exam Overview 2026-27: What Is the International Olympiad of English Language?
The iOEL exam is held once a year. The paper follows the CBSE, ICSE and State Board syllabus, so you do not need a new book. Your textbook is enough. All questions are objective type. You tick one of four options on an OMR sheet. There is no negative marking, so never leave a question blank.
Level 1 happens in your own school. Level 2 is at a centre in your city or state. Level 3 is the last round, and only top students reach there. One small thing most students do not know. The Foundation gives three dates and your school picks one, and each date carries a different question paper.

iOEL Syllabus 2026 Class Wise
The iOEL Syllabus 2026 comes from your own English book. Four main parts come in every class, and only the topics inside them get harder as your class goes up. One bonus part comes at the end. It is called Meritorious Zone in Classes 1 and 2, Excellence Zone in Classes 3 to 6, and Brilliance Zone in Classes 7 to 12, and it carries the highest marks per question.
Classes 1 and 2

iOEL Exam Pattern 2026 Class Wise
Knowing the Paper Pattern of iOEL 2026 helps you plan your 40 minutes properly. Here are the fixed rules of the paper.
- The paper carries 100 marks for every class.
- All questions are multiple-choice with one correct option.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
- Each class gets its own separate question paper.
- The exam is in English only.
- Answers are marked on an OMR sheet with a pen or pencil, as instructed.
| Class group | Questions | Duration | Marks per question |
| Class 1 to 2 | 25 | 40 minutes | 3.5 to 5 |
| Class 3 to 5 | 30 | 40 minutes | 3 to 5 |
| Class 6 to 8 | 35 | 40 minutes | 2.5 to 5 |
| Class 9 to 10 | 40 | 50 minutes | 2 to 4.6 |
| Class 11 to 12 | 40 | 50 minutes | 2 to 3.75 |
One point worth remembering from the official iOEL Exam Pattern 2026. The bonus zone carries the highest marks per question, and in Class 11 and 12 it is worth 30 marks. Many students save it for last, then the bell rings. Solve it while your mind is fresh.
The Foundation also uses a small weightage rule to break ties. Question 1 carries 0.0001 extra, Question 2 carries 0.0002, and so on. It is used only when two students score the same.
iOEL Mock Test Papers, Sample Papers and Previous Year Papers
Ranks are made in practice, not on exam day. iOEL Mock Test Papers teach you to finish 40 questions in 40 minutes. That is the real problem here. Most students know grammar well, they simply run out of time.
- iOEL Olympiad Sample Papers show how questions are framed and how options are set.
- iOEL 2026 Previous Year Question Papers show which topics come back every year.
- Solve IOEL (International Olympiad of English Language) sample papers with a timer.
- After every paper, write your wrong answers in a notebook and revise those topics.
A simple plan works well. Give thirty minutes a day for six weeks. Use the first three weeks for grammar and word meanings, and the last three for timed papers. Do not open a new book in the last week.
Sample papers and previous year papers are available on the official SilverZone website in PDF form. Your school coordinator can also arrange the practice booklet published by the Foundation.
iOEL 2026 Admit Card
There is no separate download link for the iOEL 2026 Admit Card for Level 1. The Foundation sends roll numbers and exam details directly to schools, and the school hands them over to students before the exam day.
- Collect your IOEL admit card or roll number slip from your class teacher a few days before the exam.
- Check your name, class, section and enrolment number carefully.
- Report any spelling mistakes to the coordinator immediately.
- Keep the enrolment number safe. You will need it later to check your result.
- Carry the admit card on exam day. Students without it may not be allowed to sit.
For Level 2, a separate admit card is issued, as that exam is held outside school.
iOEL Results 2026-27 and How to Check
The iOEL Results for Level 1 are expected in January 2027. Level 2 results usually follow in March or April 2027. Results are published online, and schools also receive a printed copy along with the performance report of each student.
- Visit the official website (idioms website) silverzone.org.
- Open the Quick Links section and click on Result Declaration.
- Select iOEL and choose your level.
- Enter your enrolment number, access code and other details asked for on the form.
- Submit and download your scorecard for your records.
Every student also gets a Descriptive Assessment Report. Read it properly. It shows your class, zonal and international rank with chapter-wise graphs. You get to know which topic pulled your marks down. Fix it and your school English marks will improve too.
iOEL 2026 Awards & Recognitions

iOEL vs SOF IEO: Which English Olympiad Should You Pick?
Many students write both, and there is no harm in that. The iOEL exam is held by SilverZone and gives your school three date options along with a bonus scoring zone. SOF IEO is held by the Science Olympiad Foundation and leans more towards reasoning. If this is your first Olympiad, begin with iOEL. The paper is friendly and the syllabus sits close to your school book.
