JEE Main 2026 FAQs<\/strong> \u2013 The National Testing Agency (NTA) provides JEE Main 2026<\/a> FAQs and their answers to help students find solutions to their questions. related to the JEE Main Entrance Examination 2026 on the official website (idioms website<\/a>)<\/u> of jeemain.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in. Since the examination is at the national level, candidates will have some questions and concerns. Candidates taking the JEE Main 2026 exam should review all JEE Main 2026 FAQs here for updates.<\/p>\n

7<\/td>\nPhotograph of the Candidate<\/td>\nPhotographs will be taken in real-time mode instead of browsing from the computer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
8<\/td>\nAADHAAR Number<\/td>\nAADHAAR authentication will be done for the candidates, and it will be an optional field.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
9<\/td>\nUploading of Address Proof<\/td>\nAll candidates (already registered and new registrations) are required to upload address proof (Present and permanent address) during the online Application Form of JEE (Main)\u20132026 Session-1.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The address proof may include an AADHAAR Card, a Domicile Certificate, a Passport, a Voter ID card, etc.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Both documents (proof of Permanent and Present address) are to be merged and uploaded in a single pdf file.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
If the Present and Permanent addresses are the same, then the same document will suffice.\u00a0If a candidate is staying in rented accommodation, he\/she can upload the Rent agreement for proof of present address.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
10<\/td>\nUse of Scribe<\/td>\nThe option is being given to the Candidate for Scribe.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Either NTA may provide, or the Candidate may bring his\/her own Scribe.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
11<\/td>\nPolicy for Drop Question<\/td>\nFor Section A \u2013 If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped, then full marks will be awarded to all candidates who have appeared, irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
For Section B \u2013 If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped, then four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

13.<\/strong><\/td>\nIf any candidate did not apply for Session 1, can he\/she apply for Session 2?<\/td>\nYes, if a candidate has missed filling out the Application Form for the January session, he\/she can fill out the Application Form for the April session at the time of opening the portal for that session. 28.<\/td>\nWhat do the candidates need to bring to the exam center?<\/td>\nThe candidate is required to bring the following to the examination centre:<\/p>\n

30.<\/td>\nWhat is the responsibility of NTA for JEE Main 2026?<\/td>\nThe responsibility of NTA with regard to JEE Main 2026 is limited to inviting online applications, the conduct of the entrance test, and handover of the results to the JOSSA and CSAB. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Apex Board (JAB) is the final Authority for setting the policies, rules and regulations for the conduct of JEE (Main) examination.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
31.<\/td>\nHow many question papers are in JEE Main 2026?<\/td>\nThe Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) comprises two papers. Paper 1 <\/strong>is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E\/B.Tech<\/strong>.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions\/Universities funded\/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 <\/strong>is conducted for admission to B.<\/strong>Arch and B. Planning <\/strong>courses in the country.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
32.<\/td>\nWhat will be the advantages of Multiple Sessions in JEE Main 2026?<\/td>\nThe JEE Main 2026 is being conducted in 02 (two) Sessions <\/strong>for admissions in the next academic session. The candidates will thus benefit in the following ways:<\/p>\n

(1) This will give them the opportunity to the candidates to improve their scores in the examination if they are not able to give their best in one attempt.<\/p>\n

(2) On the first attempt, the students will get a first-hand experience of taking an examination and will know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting the next time.<\/p>\n

(3) This will reduce the chances of dropping a year and candidates would not have to waste a full year.<\/p>\n

(4) If anyone missed the examination due to reasons beyond control (such as the Board examination), then he\/she will not have to wait for one full year.<\/p>\n

(5) A candidate need not appear in both Sessions. However, if a candidate appears in more than one Session then his\/her best of the JEE Main 2026 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of the Merit List\/ Ranking.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

33.<\/td>\nWhether NTA has changed the syllabus of JEE Main 2026 Session 2?<\/td>\nNo, the syllabus of JEE Main 2026 is the same as that of the last year. However, keeping in view the decisions taken by different Boards all over India, NTA has decided that there will be a total of 90 Questions in the Question Paper and the candidates will be required to attempt 75 questions only. There will be negative markings for 15 optional questions in Section B.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

However, PwD\/PwBD candidates who are eligible for a scribe will get 4 hours 10 minutes to complete the exam.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Section \u2013 IV – Eligibility Criteria<\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

38.<\/td>\nWhat is the minimum eligibility criteria\/qualification for appearing in JEE Main 2026?<\/td>\nOnly those candidates who have passed the Class 12\/equivalent examination in 2024, and 2025, or those who are appearing in Class 12\/equivalent examination in 2026<\/strong>, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2026. For more details refer to the Information Bulletin.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
39.<\/td>\nWhat are the age limit\/relaxation criteria for the candidates appearing in JEE Main 2026?<\/td>\nFor appearing in the JEE Main 2026, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12\/equivalent examination in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2026 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
40.<\/td>\nWhat will be the pattern of examinations?<\/td>\nThe Question Paper has been divided into two sections. If a candidate has passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination from one State but appeared for improvement from another State, the candidate\u2019s State code of eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed Class XII.<\/p>\n

Candidates who passed\/appearing in class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the state in which the study center is located.<\/p>\n

For Indian nationals passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination from Nepal\/Bhutan, the State code of eligibility will be determined based on a permanent address in India as given in the passport of the candidate.<\/p>\n

The State code of eligibility for OCI passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in India is at par with Indian nationals. However, OCI passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination from an institution abroad are eligible for Other State quota seats or All India quota seats (but NOT for Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IITTs and Other-CFTIs.<\/p>\n
