• Count Correct Answers: Multiply the number of correct responses by 4.
• Count Incorrect Answers: Multiply the number of incorrect responses by 1.
• Compute Final Score: The difference between incorrect marks and total correct marks.

Use this formula to calculate your score:

What Does “Challenging the NEET Answer Key” Mean ?

Once the provisional answer key has been published, students are allowed to go through it and can provide feedback regarding any possible mistake.

If a student thinks that he/she has marked the answer correctly, but in the answer key the answer marked is wrong, then he or she can submit a challenge using the official portal. Students can submit their challenges within a limited window period that is usually 4 to 5 days. After the challenge is submitted, it is reviewed by the subject experts, who verify the objections, and after that, NTA releases a final answer key that is also used to prepare the NEET 2026 results. With the help of this process, NTA ensures that there is fairness and accuracy for all the students.

Steps for Challenging the NEET 2026 Answer Key

1. Check Official Website: Visit the official NTA NEET website.
2. Log In: Type in your application number, password/date of birth.
3. Open Challenge Link: Click on the open branding of both, Answer Key Challenge or Objection.
4. Select Questions: Select the question or questions that you would like to challenge out of your test booklet code.
5. Elaborate Evidence: Choose the proper response and attach evidence in the form of NCERT references.
6. Pay Fees: Pay the non-refundable payment of 200 per question with the help of payment cards or net banking.
7. Send and Save: Enter the challenge and store the confirmation message receipt for future reference.

Note: The submitted challenges should be submitted within the period granted (in most cases 2-3 days). Objections without proof or payment will not be accepted.

Challenging Fees for NEET 2026 Answer key

The fees for challenging the NEET 2026 provisional answer key by NTA are rupees 200 per question. This challenging fee is non-refundable even if the challenge is accepted by NTA.

How to Challenge the NEET OMR Response Sheet 2026?

Along with the NEET answer key, NTA releases the NEET OMR sheet. OMR response sheet is the scanned copy of the candidate's answer key that contains the answers given by the candidates. If they feel that the response sheet has any discrepancy, they can challenge it. The candidates will be given two days for the same.

1. Login: Go to neet.nta.nic.in and use your credentials to log in.
2. Access OMR Challenge: Click on the OMR Challenge link available in your dashboard.
3. Select Questions: Choose the questions where the recorded answer differs from the one you selected.
4. Submit Claim: In the column labeled “Candidate Claim,” select the option you believe you had marked.
5. Payment: Pay the non-refundable processing fee of ₹200 per question through credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI.
6. Save Receipt: Download and save the challenge receipt for future reference.

• Purpose: This is a challenge with regard to errors in recorded responses only (not with regard to challenging the answer key).
• Document Submission: You might be required to provide the supporting evidence of your assertion.
• Timeline: The challenges should be submitted in the 2-3 day period given by NTA following the release of the provisional key and OMR sheet.
