The CBSE exam fee for class 10 is taken at the time (race against time phrase meaning) of the submission of the first LOC for both exams. This will be a non-refundable fee. Students with visual impairments are completely relieved. The fee for SC/ST students in Delhi Government schools is reduced to ₹1,200.

It is done by the school on the Pariksha Sangam Portal and the deadline is generally September – October every year. It costs a lot if you don’t take (take with a grain of salt idiom synonym) this up within this timeframe as there is a late fee of ₹2,000 that comes into effect right away.

CBSE had introduced APAAR ID for all the students of this level from 2026 onwards. The school has to connect the APAAR ID of every student prior to the submission of the registration information. Otherwise the registration is incomplete. There is also a small extra fee for photography and data entry, typically ranging from ₹100 to ₹250, depending on the school.

How to Pay CBSE Board Exam Fee: Step-by-Step

The payment process is school-driven for regular students. Private candidates compartment, improvement, or essential repeat pay directly on cbse.gov.in. Here is how both processes work:

For Regular Students

  • Pay your fee to the school before the LOC deadline.
  • Your school logs into the Pariksha Sangam Portal and submits the LOC with your details.
  • The fee is paid online by the school on your behalf – Net Banking, UPI, Debit Card, Credit Card, NEFT, or RTGS.
  • A data verification slip is generated. Download and save your registration slip once issued.

For Private Candidates

  • Visit cbse.gov.in and click on the Private Candidate Exam Form link.
  • Select your category – Compartment, Improvement, Essential Repeat, or Additional Subject.
  • Enter previous roll number, year of passing, and personal details accurately.
  • Choose subjects and exam city, then pay the CBSE exam fee
  • No corrections are allowed after final submission. Double-check everything first.

Don’t pay the CBSE board exam fee in cash. CBSE does not accept any payment that is not made online. Do not pay any cash in the name of board fees if requested by any school; immediately contact the CBSE regional office. It may take 2-3 days for SWIFT payments to reflect and so complete the LOC process a few days prior to the deadline in case of international schools.

CBSE Fee Charges for Various Documents

If a student requires a duplicate certificate/Marksheet years after his/her examination, he/she has to apply through the CBSE Duplicate Academic Document System (DADS). It is a tiered fee, the older the document, the more it will cost. An important update from 2025 is that the migration certificates are free of charge and are issued on DigiLocker.

You do not need to apply for or pay for them separately. Simply activate your DigiLocker account using the six-digit access code provided by your school and download it anytime.
