The revised syllabus for class 10 has been issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education. This year changes have been made in the exam system, as stated by the board. The board stated, they would be removing the term-wise exam system and will bring back the single-board exam system. Competency-Based Questions
As per the latest circular released by CBSE, the focus of the exam would be on competency-based questions. These questions are aimed at finding out how you utilize specific skills in your experience and how you take (take with a grain of salt idiom synonym) support of these skills to solve certain problems and tasks in your day-to-day life. These can also be addressed as behavior or situation questions often used in interviews. The CBSE would give more weightage to such questions in the upcoming board examinations. These questions would help the student think logically and get rid of rote learning.
Objective Type Questions
Students have a perception that objective-type questions are related only to MCQs but they might also include a variety of other questions such as
- Statement questions
- Multiple-choice questions
- Column Matching questions
- Assertion and Reasoning questions
- True and false questions

Subjective Questions
As per the latest CBSE class 10 syllabus, the weightage of subjective questions would be 40%. The subjective questions usually include long or short-answer-type questions.
CBSE Class 10th Exam Pattern 2025
In order to assess the students in a better way the complete CBSE class 10th exam pattern for the session 2024-25 is given below.
In the academic year 2024-25, there will only be one board examination. The full syllabus will be covered in the final examination as per the latest CBSE exam curriculum.
For the CBSE class 10 board exam question paper, 40% weightage is given to multiple choice questions, 20% weightage to competency-based questions, and 40% wastage for subjective type questions.
To get familiar with the new exam pattern and know the analysis of their preparation the students can choose to practice several sample papers. The sample papers as per the latest curriculum will be released on the CBSE official website.
The CBSE has set up a new policy of board exams for the academic session 2024-25. As per the policy, at least 40% of the questions in class 9th and the class 10th will be competency-based.
These questions would have various types such as multiple-choice questions, case-based, source-based integrated, or any other form.
Also in the year 2025 class 10 final exams, 20% of the questions will be objective type, and the remaining 40% will consist of short-answer or long-answer type.
