AIIMS, short for All India Institute of Medical Sciences, is one of the most preferred choices for students who want to become doctors in India. AIIMS institutes offer a wide range of UG and PG courses in the field of healthcare and medical sciences. In order to get admission to AIIMS in India, you will first have to clear the entrance exam for the course you would like to join. You should have a valid NEET-UG score for the MBBS course. To get admission in postgraduate courses such as MD or MS, you need to qualify for the INICET exam. Entry into AIIMS is difficult since the cut-off marks are quite high. In the best AIIMS, such as Delhi, students require approximately 650 – 715+ marks. AIIMS demand approximately 645–700+ score for the general category, for OBC/EWS, it requires approx 630–700+, and for SC/ST, it demands 500-650+ marks. Total MBBS Seats in AIIMS Colleges in India
According to the 2025-2026 session, there are 20 functioning AIIMS colleges in India that currently have approximately 2257 MBBS seats in total. The seats are filled using MCC counselling under 100% All India Quota, and therefore, no quota is available by state in AIIMS. With 132 seats, 7 seats occupied by foreign students, AIIMS New Delhi has the highest student intake, with most of the rest having a student intake of between 50 and 150.
